sAbout the Instructor:
Nandgaonkar Hemant completed his Occupational Therapy qualifications From Mumbai University in 1997, later specializing in Hand Rehabilitation.
He also studied Sensory Integration course (OT610) at University of Southern California, USA. He worked as Occupational Therapist
at ALERT-INDIA, organization working for leprosy patients and All India Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
(AIIPMR) for setting up Rehabilitation unit at Raigad District until 2000. After that he joined as Lecturer, Occupational
Therapy at Padmashree Dr.D.Y.Patil. Patil College of Occupational Therapy, Nerul and now he is post graduate teacher at Maharashtra
University of Health Sciences (MUHS). He is also Certified Instructor for Theraband® Academy.
Hemant is recipient of various awards at Annual National conference of All India Occupational Therapists’ Association
and published scientific papers in Indian Journal of Occupational Therapy and others. He received International fellowship
in Medical Education GSMC-FAIMER.
Hemant has been based in
Mumbai since 1999 and he is currently the proprietor and head of practice for Hands On Therapy Concepts™ in Mulund.
He is a member of the All India Occupational Therapist’s Association. He has 12 years experience in the treatment of
patients and lecturing students.
His clients come
from a variety of backgrounds: children, athletes, office workers and builders, and leprosy and hand injured people. In his
clinic he treats many different conditions including autism, ADHD, learning disability, sensory processing disorders, hand
writing problems, developmental delay, shoulder pain, back pain, hand injuries, RSI, leprosy, rehabilitation after surgery
and neurology.
Hemant has trained in various
therapy techniques, Ayres Sensory Integration Therapy®, Theraband® and Swiss ball exercises, hand splinting, Pune Shoulder
Rehabilitation programme, rehabilitation and ergonomics alongside with the use of traditional Occupational Therapy.
In his spare time,
Hemant loves photography, swimming, reading and playing cricket.
